volteFace - Anonymize Photos

Anonymize faces in your photos automatically to safeguard them from both machine and, if desired, human facial recognition.

Prefer not to share your photos on social media and photo-sharing platforms? A prime example is LinkedIn. Establishing trust with professional peers and aiding in easy recognition are crucial.

Unlike your social security number, credit card information, or signature, altering your physical appearance is notably challenging. A photograph serves as a distinct biometric representation of your identity.

Though you may intend for your shared photos to be viewed and appreciated by individuals - be it family, friends, or colleagues - online content is increasingly accessible beyond human eyes.

Governments and private entities worldwide actively gather and compile photos, particularly those available through various internet sources, to enhance machine-driven facial recognition systems.

Despite many of these efforts having honorable objectives, the lack of stringent laws overseeing the collection, aggregation, and protection of individuals' photos signifies a potential threat to privacy.

volteFace provides you with the mechanism to dictate if you wish for machines to "appreciate" your photos while still retaining their original purpose of human appreciation.

In addition to automatically anonymizing faces in photos, volteFace removes metadata embedded within images that may reveal your precise GPS location or other personal information.

Through the automatic identification and masking of key facial "landmarks" – pivotal points crucial for machine-driven facial recognition – volteFace renders your images resistant to machine scrutiny and matching with reference photos.

Limitations

<ul>
<li>Does not support extremely large photos exceeding 10k width or height (e.g., panoramas)</li>
<li>Does not anonymize non-facial elements captured in a photo like texts or signs</li>
<li>Partial or indistinct faces in images might not be anonymized; utilize the touch-up feature for finalizing images before sharing</li>
